Junior: Making Sense of it All by Lars Rood

It's hard to believe that my little girl will be a  high school junior next year. With so many decisions that need to be made & so many questions that need to be answered, the next few years of her life could be quite confusing. Lars Rood's book, "Junior: Making Sense of it All" is excellent not just for teenagers, but for people of all ages who may be struggling to know who they are & where they're going.
This interesting & engaging book includes some thought provoking questions many need to ask themselves such as: Do you know who you are at home & church? Who do others say that you are? And most importantly, who does Jesus say that you are?
It presents the world's view of certain situations & helps the reader put things in the proper, Biblical perspective. Some good advice given was encouraging teens to consider the humanity of their parents. Instead of waiting to receive praise, teens might want to tell their parents the good they see in them & perhaps this will help to strengthen their bond. I think this is advice all of us could use & not just in our parent-child relationships.
I do have an issue with the authors' suggestion that teens meet with their social media friends. I understand the need to build real-life connections, but I don't think this is the way to do it.
Overall, I think this book is straight forward, easy to understand, & extremely valuable in helping to figure out who we truly are. It certainly helped me quite a bit. I believe that as long as teens keep Jesus in the center of their lives, they will indeed be able to "make sense of it all".
